The Eurovision Song Contest 1984 was the 29th Eurovision Song Contest and was held on May 5, 1984 in Luxembourg. The presenter was Désirée Nosbusch. Nosbusch, only 19 years old at the time, hosted the show in a lax manner, which was quite unusual for this show back then. She manifested her fluency in four languages when she switched between English, French, German and Luxemburgish in the course of her speech. The Herreys were the winners of this Eurovision with the song, Diggi-Loo Diggi-Ley. Their "golden shoes" have become a pop-cult classic since their win in 1984.
